Juliette Detours!

Oops.

I started on a full size Juliette, happily cutting 96 of this and 96 of that. And then oops. I started making a different version, the one in my head. Juliette as a table runner.

Several months ago, I picked up this amazing avocado colored Grunge and planned to use it as background for a runner. I also grabbed the Andover Dimples in a coordinating Kiwi green. But I just could not think of how to use it.

I did find a scrumptious print in stash that went with it beautifully. But it wasn’t until I started on the full Juliette that the lightbulb went on! Eureka!

Testing my fabrics! Yummy.
The threads.

This also gives me the opportunity to “practice” Juliette before making the full size quilt! A rationalization? Perhaps, but a good one!

First section made! Loving it!
Juliette has Y seams, which means carefully marking the seam intersections and then sewing to the mark from each direction. Tricksy!
Middle section. My friend who loves long runners like the middle of the runner to be relatively plain for a large bouquet or centerpiece.
Here she is, the full length runner all sewn together. 16” wide and 58” long.

She is now all sandwiched up awaiting quilting!

Happy quilting and happy sidetacking!
