Shh, They are a Secret

Sometimes you are working on something and avoiding sharing photos. Why? Well, because it is a secret!

I have spent a fair amount of time making these pipe themed stockings to sell at the Las Vegas Internation Pipe Show next month. It is getting close, and while I have not yet shared in my pipe groups or on my profile, I am willing to share with you, my blog fans.

This is my third year making them. Each year, I need to dream up something a little different. I made an even dozen.

Digging into my stash, I found some older fabric used a number of years ago for bags. It is a light canvas weight.

The Benedict Cumberbatch “Sherlock”. I made three of these, using silver metallic thread for the cross hatch. I added some “smoke” in solid gray to the central pipe motif.
An interesting print does not need a lot of work to make it sing.
With some very cool raindeer batik backing and lining.
More Sherlock fabric, with vibrant Klimt cobalt blue fabric.
Classic black and gold with the Sherlock fabric and some black lace trim. I am going for the Victorian vibe.

And created some new styles with some rick rack…

Silver rick rack and cardinals! With applique pipes.
Batiks with more cardinals, and applique pipes, of course.
A traditional corn cob!

In addition, I made 15 pipe cleaner holders using cork. Cork sews up very nicely and can be used for purses and small bags.

So now you know what I have been working on through the summer in addition to the usual quilts.

Happy sewing!
